Stockport’s leading all-inclusive Theatre Company, NK Theatre Arts welcomed a special guest on Friday night when their long standing patron and one half of the legendary comic duo Cannon and Ball attended their “Junior Magic of the Musicals” performance at The Forum Theatre in Romiley.
Bobby Ball was welcomed on to the stage before the show, introduced to a capacity crowd and chatted about how he first got involved with NK.
Tommy and I agreed to do a fundraising performance at The Palace Theatre back in 1997 which was a joint venture between NK and the NSPCC. During rehearsals I was bowled over by the talent of the young people and really impressed with the ethos of the Charity ‘Every Door shall be opened to Every Child’. Whilst talking with Artistic Director Kerry Day she invited me to become a patron and I was delighted to accept.”

Bobby also talked about the importance for young people in being involved with organisations such as NK Theatre Arts and the positive effects that can have on their lives.
Young people have so much energy these days, it is fantastic that there are organisations such as NK around to help channel that energy in a positive way. As an all-inclusive organisation, NK helps break down barriers, giving every child a common goal of achieving the very best they can through performing arts. Kids come here and you can see the confidence and sense of achievement they get from appearing on a stage, it’s priceless.”
The performance was part of the 30th Anniversary Celebrations of NK and the evening saw the company present extracts from some of the major musicals performed at The Forum Theatre by the company in the past, including Oliver, The Wizard of Oz, Annie and Seussical.
Bobby congratulated the children after the show and chatted to parents afterwards.
He said “I am so proud to be a Patron of NK Theatre Arts. You’d have paid a fortune in the West End to watch this show tonight. I am absolutely gobsmacked at the talent of these young people and I am looking forward to being more involved with future events.”
Cannon and Ball will be hitting our screens this summer as part of ITV’s “Last Laugh in Vegas” a brand new 5 part series in which some legendary performers from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s create a spectacular variety performance at one of the iconic venues in The Entertainment Capitol of The World Las Vegas!
