Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg visited High Lane, Stockport to continue to press for the second part of the SEMMMS link road going from Hazel Grove to Bredbury.
Over recent months, Danny Alexander (Chief Secretary to the Treasury) and Baroness Susan Kramer (Minister for Transport) have visited the constituency to make the case at the highest levels of government for this important investment in Stockport’s infrastructure.
Lisa Smart, parliamentary candidate for the Liberal Democrats said:
”It’s great to have Nick’s support on this crucial issue for our area. It’s such a shame that the local Conservatives are continuing to flip-flop all over the place about whether they support it or not. Only last night, they were in complete disarray at a Council meeting discussing the plans, risking unnecessary and expensive delays.
Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg said:
”(Lisa) knows just how important the investment in this road is and has been a fantastic champion for this road, so I was delighted to accept Lisa’s invitation today. It has been a real pleasure to meet members of High Lane Residents Association, to hear their views on the plans.”
