Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s Family Nurse Partnership – health visitors and midwives with additional training who help guide young people through first time parenthood – has celebrated its first birthday.
The Family Nurse Partnership helps mums and dads aged 19 or under with voluntary home visits and support, including visits from a family nurse from early pregnancy up until the child is two.
Some of the parents and babies, who the service has helped over the year, joined staff for a celebration at the Abacus Children’s Centre in Adswood.
Among them were seven month old Amelia-Rose Briggs, and her parents Charley Pywell (18) and Callum Briggs (19) from Brinnington.

Charley said,
“The team have been a huge help ever since I first found out I was pregnant with Amelia.
“It’s really useful to have someone to talk to about any little health worries you might have, rather than having to book an appointment with the GP or go to the hospital. They’ve supported me every step of the way.”
The service is run by Stockport NHS Foundation Trust as part of a wider health project across the country. If you’d like to find out more call Kathy Crew, Family Nurse Supervisor on 0161 426 5175 or visit www.fnp.nhs.uk
