Would you or someone you know like to get online or improve your digital skills? During Get Online Week (14th – 20th October 2019) we are encouraging people to learn how to use the internet or to become a bit more confident online.
There are places all over Stockport where you can get help to get online or improve your digital skills for free, making it the perfect opportunity for you to get started.
Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Citizen Focus and Engagement says:
“Being online can help people stay connected to the things they love, improve their health and wellbeing and save money. But it is also increasingly a necessity. Many applications, like applying for a school place, finding a new job or applying for Universal Credit, are now online.
“I meet lots of people who would like to take the first step to getting online and I always reassure them, it’s easier than you think. Call in to your local library where our staff are happy to help you get started and where you can use the computers and Wi-Fi for free. Get Online Week is the perfect time to give it a go, with lots of extra support available across Stockport.”

There are more and more community groups who are helping to introduce people to the benefits of being online. Look out for the DigiKnow logo or search for digital skills in the online directory:
Library staff can help you with this too.
