Work on the next stage of Stockport Exchange will be starting on site this summer. Ahead of this, Stockport Council and Muse Developments are holding a series of exhibitions to tell residents about the changes that will be taking place in the area around the train station.
As part of the Council’s ‘Investing in Stockport’ programme, the second phase of development will see a new 43,000 sq ft Grade A office building with ground floor retail space, 115 bed hotel and new public square created in the area opposite the train station entrance, creating a new gateway to Stockport town centre.
During this time there will be changes to the area around the train station and we want to keep you informed about these. A public exhibition outlining the works and changes taking place will be on display at Stockport Railway Station on the following days:
- Friday 17th July, 3pm – 6pm
- Saturday 18th July, 10am – 1pm
- Monday 20th July, 8am – 10am
Team members will be available at these times to answer any questions you may have.
Councillor Sue Derbyshire, Leader of Stockport Council said
“It is great that we have reached this exciting stage at Stockport Exchange. The creation of a vibrant business hub in the town centre is a key part of our Investing in Stockport programme. This work will see our town build on its strengths in order that it can grow and offer new opportunities to residents and businesses.
“The benefits this development will bring to Stockport are significant but we want everyone to be informed about the changes that will be taking place in the area around the station. Please do visit the exhibition so that you can find out more.”
Wes Erlam, development director at Muse Developments, added:
“Stockport Exchange is going to provide a major commercial and commuter hub for the town, as well as an attractive new pedestrianised space around the train station for everyone to enjoy. We will be keeping everyone well informed of any changes throughout the construction period so we can keep Stockport moving during this important phase of development.”
The exhibition boards will be available to view at the station from 17th – 31st July 2015. Information about the changes and the Investing in Stockport programmes is also available online at www.stockport.gov.uk/investingingrowth
