Another Robinsons’ pub has been given a makeover. The Royal Oak pub, New Mills, has reopened following a 4 week refurbishment by Robinsons Brewery and licensee Paul Townsend.

The pub, nestled in the High Peak town of New Mills, was transformed by Robinsons’ award-winning in-house design team with a vision to bring the pub’s former disjointed rooms together whilst maintaining its honest charm.
“The design was chosen to open up the pub” said Alan Chapman, Business Development Manager for Robinsons. “Previously, we would have had customers walking outside to get to our second room because of the old layout. There was a lot of wasted space and we wanted to connect up the spaces and help bring everyone together.”
Internally the Royal Oak was completely stripped back, obstructing walls were removed and a new central bar installed to help aid the natural flow of pub. New fixed leather seating has been introduced alongside classic timber table tops creating a modern twist on the archetypical village local.
Aged antique timber flooring along with reclaimed cladding has helped to update the look whilst local heritage photographs and bric-a-brac depicting the town’s coal and cotton industries create instant talking points. The design is the perfect marriage of history and present day.
“The designers have done a cracking job on the pub” said Alan. “You almost wouldn’t believe it was the same place! We’ve also added several more hand pulls to the bar together with a new craft beer menu so the pub can now offer more variety than ever!”
“The new look has made the pub feel much more inviting” said Paul Townsend, (left) licensee of the Royal Oak. “We’re really happy that the design hasn’t changed the pub’s atmosphere as a great community local. The feedback from everyone during our first days of being open has been outstanding and we’re looking forward to this next chapter for the Royal Oak.”
The Royal Oak is now open serving a rotating range of Robinsons’ cask ales and delicious international craft beers. For more information please visit: www.facebook.com/royaloaknewmills
