Stockport College have announced the appointment of a new Principal and Chief Executive Officer, effective from today.
The appointment of a new Transition Principal and Chief Executive – Dr Mike Potter CBE – to replace Principal Simon Andrews, was announced by Louise Richardson, Chair of the Corporation Stockport College.
Louise said:
“It is with sadness and regret that we have agreed to release our Principal Simon Andrews, having made a significant contribution to the overall development and direction of the College.
“Simon has led the College toward a secure future with advanced merger plans in place and has worked tirelessly with the local authority to deliver a new College building in the town centre. Simon has led with dignity, professionalism, and vision through what has been an extremely difficult period for the College. The College is now a much better place and we will be very sorry and sad to see him leave. On behalf of all the staff and students at Stockport College we wish him well for the future.”
Dr Potter said:
“I am delighted to be returning to the area, with a clear mandate of working with colleagues to take Stockport College forward and to provide a strong, successful and sustainable future for Further and Higher Education in the area.”
Stockport College has appointed Dr Mike Potter CBE as the Transition Principal and Chief Executive. He will be working with staff and key stakeholders to ensure the future of vocational and technical education in the Stockport area and to deliver the Corporation’s plans for the future. Mike is an experienced Principal and Chief Executive, who has previously led Wirral Metropolitan College and the Guildford College Group. Dr Potter CBE takes up his post today.
