The Mayor-Elect of Stockport, Councillor Chris Murphy, will be appointed as the new Mayor of Stockport 2013/14 at the Annual Council Meeting on Tuesday 21st May.
Cllr Murphy has represented the Brinnington & Central Ward on the Council since 1998.
The Mayoress-Elect is Mrs Dot Murphy, Cllr Murphy’s wife. Councillor Mike Wilson is the Deputy Mayor-Elect, and Mrs Jacqueline Hawkins is the Deputy Mayoress-Elect.
The Annual Council Meeting also agrees the membership of the Executive, Scrutiny and Ordinary Committees, as well as Working Parties, and representatives from Stockport Council on outside bodies.
The meeting takes place in the Council Chamber in Stockport Town Hall on 21st May at 2.30pm. As part of a drive to make democracy more transparent and open, this will be the first Council Meeting to be broadcast live on the internet. The webcast will be available by logging onto the Council website www.stockport.gov.uk and can be viewed live or at a later date via the archive on the Council website.
