Former chartered town planner and now owner of Fledglings nurseries, Christopher Gray has just opened his fourth nursery in the Manchester area.
The new nursery in Stockport, which has been set up with funding from RBS, has joined established Fledglings nurseries in Irlam, Worsley and Stretford.
Christopher Gray comments:
“The latest addition to Fledglings Education and Childchare opened in Stockport on 4th March so we are currently building our numbers. Our ethos is to provide a quality childcare service. We offer a friendly and welcoming environment in which children can develop and flourish. For example I have used my design skills to create an age-specific outdoor play areas which provides a safe environment for play and learning.”
Fledglings specialise in pre-school care from birth, and also provides before and after school facilities and holiday play schemes for children up to the age of 11. The first nursery opened in Stretford in 1990 and was designed and built by Christopher Gray.
The business has been a customer of RBS since 2008 and this is the second nursery that the bank has funded.
Christopher Grey continues:
‘As a businessman I need continuity of service from my bank but when we set up the first two nurseries we had to change bank each time as we couldn’t extend our credit. Since we started banking with RBS, we established a good working relationship that allows us to get on with running our business.”
RBS Relationship Manager Angela Bate confirms:
“We have taken some time to understand the business and have been impressed with the quality of the team running the nurseries. Christopher surrounds himself with strong people and they have excellent staff retention.
“Fledglings was also able to benefit from the Funding for Lending Scheme which, although it came into effect after the deal had been negotiated, we were pleased to apply rather than to move forward
under the original terms.”
