Stockport Local Fund are about to announce which community initiatives have been successful in the latest round of their financial awards.
If you applied to Stockport Local Fund for more than £500 to support your great community idea, you will find out if you were successful this week.
Councillor Elise Wilson, Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance at Stockport Council said:
“I would like to thank all the people who applied to Stockport Local Fund. Having announced in September, the successful groups and organisations who had applied to Stockport Local Fund for £500 or less, I am really pleased to share the great news that we have now selected the successful applicants in the £500 – £10,000 category.
“We received a high volume of applications and there was an abundance of good ideas, which made the selection process very tough. Applicants bidding for over £500 had to provide more comprehensive information about their project plans, which will help to ensure that the funding is spent where it will do most good.”
All applications received were scored against the council’s priorities:
• to increase social contact and support for people who are socially isolated or lonely
• to get more people involved in supporting each other with long-term physical and/or mental health conditions
• to help more people to succeed in making long-term lifestyle changes to improve their own health and wellbeing.
Successful ideas also needed to demonstrate that they would make a difference to both the people involved and the wider community and that the idea would be sustainable once support from Stockport Local Fund has ended.
Councillor Wilson continues:
“If you weren’t ready to apply or weren’t successful last time the good news is there is another opportunity to apply coming soon. To make sure you don’t miss out, now’s the time to start developing your great idea. In particular we will be looking for applications that demonstrate collaboration, so why not consider working in partnership with others in your community?”
A full list of the successful applications will be published once the final verification checks are complete. Many applicants also asked for other types of support with their idea and Stockport Council will be contacting them directly about that soon. Funding for community ideas may also be available from other sources and information about these can be found on our community funding web pages: http://www.stockport.gov.uk/topic/community-funding.
