Millie’s Trust is a registered charity which was established by Joanne and Dan Thompson following the loss of their daughter Millie in a choking incident at nursery in October 2012. Millie’s Trust believes everyone should have access to First Aid Training and its aim is to make First Aid Training readily available at minimal cost and in as many places as possible. Millie’s Trust wants everyone to be able to learn the skills to enable them to save a life.

Joanne Thompson, CEO of Millie’s Trust, said:

“Millie’s anniversary is always a really tough time for us as a family but we couldn’t let five years pass without something extra special happening within the charity to honour our precious daughter.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of our second training venue and retail unit and hope to support the community even more with improving their life-saving skills. The new venue will offer us the opportunity to offer more children the chance to attend courses, which is something we are very proud we can do in memory of our Millie.

“We would love to see as many people as possible, old faces and new, popping in to see what we are up to on our gorgeous daughter’s fifth anniversary. We honestly cannot believe it has been that long since we last heard her amazing laugh and saw her gorgeous smile.”

Millie’s Trust provides free First Aid awareness courses to expectant parents, parents who have a child under the age of 12 months, or parents who are struggling to find the funds to attend. Millie’s Trust also provides a low cost level 3 12-hour Paediatric First Aid qualification to childcare providers to ensure more staff become trained. Millie’s Mark, the new quality mark for excellence in Paediatric First Aid for early years settings, was created by the Department for Education following a very successful petition by Millie’s parents and is being administered by the National Day Nurseries Association.
