Twelve members of staff from MAN Diesel & Turbo UK Ltd (MDT-UK) set out on a Bike It or Hike It challenge in North Wales and Anglesey in an attempt to raise money for the Francis House Hospice,
one of the company’s chosen charities for this year.
Staff left MDT-UK’s Headquarters at 06:00 hours on the day with the eight cyclists (pictured in white above) about to embark on a 100km cycle around Anglesey whilst the four hikers (pictured in black) prepared themselves for a 1,000m walk up the Llanberis Path to the top of Mount Snowdon.
After a somewhat cloudy and damp start, the weather held fair for both sets of intrepid fundraisers and we are delighted to report – apart from just one puncture (on a tyre, not a member of staff!) – the day went without a hitch.
The hikers finished together at a little after 15:00 hours. The cyclists managed to stay together for the first half of the course but the greater speed of some of the riders started to show after the midway point. The final two riders crossed the finish line at 16:30 to end a memorable day.
Whilst there was some friendly ribbing about the various times, the real winners on the day are the children and families benefitting from the funds raised by the teams for Francis House.
MDT-UK Ltd was delighted to receive a ‘well done’ e-mail from the JustGiving donation website congratulating the team on raising £1,051 so far, an amount that put them in the top 5% of fundraisers (out of 83,542) for the whole of September.
The company would like to congratulate all the fundraisers for their efforts for what is a truly worthwhile cause.
