On Friday, 12 December 2014, MAN Diesel & Turbo UK Ltd.’s (MDT-UK) three new Apprentices for 2014 took part in the annual Stockport Engineering Training Association (SETA) Santa Dash around Woodbank Park in Offerton, close to MDT-UK’s Headquarters in Hazel Grove.
When they first arrived, the sleet and snow was coming in sideways across the park. Luckily, one minute before the start, the downpour stopped and the sun came out although the park was still a little flooded.
MDT-UK’s three Stockport-based Apprentices (left to right) Guy McKinley (Quality Auditor), Joel Farnan (Supplier Development) and Josh Schofield (Field Service) took part and, along with some forty-odd other runners, completed the two-mile dash in aid of the charity Wish Upon a Star, a charity specialising in making dreams come true for children with life threatening illnesses.
The Santa Dash for 2013 raised £3,050 for Wish Upon a Star and sent four children and their families to Lapland to meet Santa. This year SETA is hoping to beat this figure and be able to send more children on a trip of a lifetime.
