Stockport based Mastercall is offering post-graduates, experienced registered nurses and experienced allied health professionals the opportunity to join their successful Level 6 CPD course in Assessment and Management of Minor Illness.
Mastercall, in association with Liverpool John Moores University, has been running the course for the last three years.
Recruitment for September 2018 is still open and is a great opportunity for registered nurses and allied health professionals with 3-years post qualified experience, preferably with previous experience of study at degree-level (although diploma level training is not an exclusion).
Completion of this course will provide students with the skills and knowledge to develop as autonomous clinical practitioners in various clinical settings. Students have gone onto undertake prescribing qualifications, deliver same day minor illness clinics within a general practice, study for MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and work as Clinical Practitioners in unscheduled care services.
Commended course
Recently the Liverpool John Moores University panel assessed the course and were satisfied that the appropriate standards were set and approved the quality of the learning opportunities offered to students. The content of the course was confirmed to be current and valid in the light of developing knowledge in the discipline, practice in application and developments in teaching and learning.
The course was commended for three areas:
- The opportunity for students to complete 80 hours of supervised practice experience through the design of the programme (included in the course fee)
- The novel nature of formative peer assessment and incorporation of self-reflection which aligns with professional body revalidation requirements for students
- The strong ethos of self-evaluation and reflection across all areas of the programme and its ongoing management
Deputy Nurse Manager and former student Tina Ademokoya said:
“Doing the course has increased my knowledge in out of hours/primary care. The support from the programme leader and other Senior Clinicians in Mastercall has been fantastic.
“Doing this course has served as a foundation for my future career pathway. I have just started the prescribing course in one of the Universities in Manchester, as I feel and know this is the next step after doing the MINs course which has given me that confidence in prep for my future career pathway. Such an excellent course to do, for whoever wants to develop their skills in primary care.”
The course will start in September and run from 6-9pm every Tuesday at Mastercall headquarters, Pepper Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport.
