Marketing Stockport is delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Award for Training Young People’ at this year’s Stockport Business Awards. As reported in this week’s business section of the Stockport Express,
Stockport is gaining a reputation as a town offering
diversity to students of all ages.
Stockport University Centre’s Students graduation
ceremony awards degrees to students and last week
Marketing Stockport attended Stockport College’s first
Construction Employer event at Robinsons Brewery,
sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland Business
Centre in Stockport. Its aim was to promote
Apprenticeships within the construction industry and
encourage employers to network and share
experiences.
Supporting young people was one of the first priorities identified by members of Marketing Stockport and an integral part of our strategy is to ensure that young talent is nurtured by providing real opportunities and long term career prospects locally.
“Last month, research revealed
that Stockport is among the top 10
towns and cities in the UK for
talent; it is important that we retain
such talent, invest in our future
work force across all sectors and
try to stem the leakage out of the
area”.
Businesses in Stockport are recognising the value of engaging with young people early; from next September the new Technical free school SK1 opens where the curriculum has been developed along with local businesses, including Marketing Stockport members Clarke Nicklin and MAN Group, who will also deliver aspects including training, mentoring and career sampling.
We recognise the investment that Stockport based businesses make in our youngsters and the ‘Award for Training Young People’ at this year’s Stockport Business Award’s category will examine businesses who have demonstrated support and commitment to their younger employees and recognise their value to the company.
The awards are being held at the Hallmark Hotel, Handforth, on Thursday October 3rd and will play host to in excess of 300 of Stockport’s finest business community. They are now open for nominations with a few sponsorship opportunities still available. For more details visit: www.stockportbusinessawards.co.uk
