Last week founding sponsors of Marketing Stockport met with Ken O’Toole, the recently appointed Managing Director of Manchester Airport, at a round table working lunch event at the Radisson Blu, the day after the announcement of a £1bn investment at the airport.
Stockport is ideally located – just 6 miles away and on the Manchester airport flight path – to take advantage of the £1bn investment …
…and attract prospective businesses looking to invest in or move to the area. Last year the airport saw over 22 million passengers going through the terminals with anticipated growth to 30 million by 2025. With more routes and destinations planned, the airport delivers the connectivity required for Stockport and the region to thrive on a global business stage, attracting business and opening routes to new business markets.
The airport already plays a major role and is integral to creating a more successful northern economy; with inceased employment opportunities in the area, the airport already provides employment for 20,000 people and contributes to over £1.8 billion of economic activity.

The Marketing Stockport event was hosted at the Radisson Blu Manchester Airport in the Executive Lounge … over looking the runway. It was an opportunity for the founding sponsors of Marketing Stockport to discuss the impact of the investment and subsequent opportunities for local businesses to engage more with the airport facility.
Together with the development at Manchester Airport, Airport City will continue to attract business and provides opportunities for local businesses to engage on the supply chain.
