Spanish low-cost airline Vueling has announced it will run one-off special flights from Manchester Airport to Madrid Barajas Airport for Manchester City supporters ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 match against Real Madrid.
The game will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on February 26th at 9pm local time, and the airline will provide a one-off return service to cater for high demand from City fans. Currently Vueling only offers regular flights from Manchester Airport to Barcelona.
Vueling’s outbound flight will land in Madrid around 7 hours before kick-off, with a return flight landing at Manchester Airport at 6pm.
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said:
February 26th is a huge occasion for Manchester City and its fans and we are pleased to see Vueling offering increased choice to those attending the game through this special service. This will be Vueling’s first direct service from Manchester to Madrid, but they have been operating their very popular Manchester to Barcelona route for a number of years now, so we know City fans travelling with them will be in good hands.”
The flights will be operated with an Airbus A320, which has a capacity of 181 passengers. Vueling is part of International Airlines Group, and is one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines, flying to short- and medium-haul destinations across Europe and North Africa, including Manchester Airport, from its hubs in Northern Spain.
