In May 2012, Andrew Foden, Site Facilities Manager at MAN Diesel & Turbo’s UK Headquarters in Hazel Grove (MDT-UK), attended a Business Group meeting held within the local area of Hazel Grove.
At that meeting, an Environmental Pledge was discussed to introduce to help organisations contribute to reducing CO2 emissions to meet Government reduction targets.
Along with more than eighty local companies,
MDT-UK immediately signed up for the Pledge which
is an Environmental Management System not too
dissimilar to ISO14001 but offering more towards the
community.
At the beginning of April this year, MDT-UK submitted
the work done over the last twelve months. The topics
covered Waste Recycling, Carbon Footprinting, Water
Consumption, a Clean Premises Plan, Local
Initiatives & Support for Manchester and a Certain
Future Action Plan.
The efforts of all staff at MDT-UK’s site on Mirrlees
Drive earned the Company the Bronze Award
standard with great emphasis now on future
success at both Silver and Gold level.
MAN Diesel Turbo UK has a simple, yet successful,
philosophy:
• Just think, if you are not using it, turn it off
• If you’re throwing it away, can it be used again? or
• Am I putting it in the right place to recycle?
