To spread some festive cheer, passengers at Manchester Airport were greeted with a Christmas surprise, as 500 mystery boxes were located in Terminal One baggage reclaim, all filled with prizes.
250 boxes had a golden ticket and allowed passengers to help themselves to a range of luxury goods including TVs, bikes and iPods. The other 250 had festive cupcakes for them to enjoy.
As passengers returned for sunny climes such as Dubai, Spain and Greece, they were met by Manchester Airport’s Winter Wonderland and given the opportunity to select a box, all overseen by Santa Claus himself.
Tricia Williams, Customer Services Director at Manchester Airport said:
“Christmas is always such a busy time at the airport as passengers jet off around the world to see loved ones and we thought we’d do our bit to spread some seasonal goodwill at a time that can be stressful for travellers.
“I am sure passengers really enjoyed the experience and were delighted with the range of gifts available. We look forward to seeing them return in 2015 and thank them all for their continued support of Manchester Airport.”
Lucy Brotherton, 9 from Seattle said:
“It was such a surprise to be faced with the Winter Wonderland today at Manchester Airport, what a lovely way to end our family holiday and a great start to our Christmas.
“We were lucky enough to win a scarf for me, board game for my brother and a bottle for my mum, and I am sure all the other passengers enjoyed the experience. We look forward to flying out of Manchester Airport again next year.”
The Winter Wonderland in Terminal One took place between 12.00pm and 2.00pm last Friday on what is set to be the busiest day for the UK’s third biggest airport with over 53,000 passengers passing through.
