Stockport based insurance software house, CDL, has donated funds to a local primary school for children with special educational needs, to help kit them out for a big day of success on the football pitch.
Pupils at Pictor School, in Timperley, had been training hard for the Manchester City FC City In the Community football league competition, in which ten primary special schools from across Greater Manchester took part. The children however, were badly in need of a team kit.
CDL Software Technician, Karl Hinze, whose son attends Pictor School, made an appeal to CDL, which stepped in to provide the funds to purchase a brand new strip for each of the young players, ahead of the competition.
Sean Cusack, a teacher at Pictor, commented: “We were absolutely delighted when we heard the news. Having the new kit really added to the excitement of the day – and was a great reward for all the hours of hard work and dedication that the children had put in.
“We all pulled together to come up with a creative design for the team badge, and eventually settled on a panther – which is how we also arrived at the name Pictor Panthers to suit.”
The competition took place on 17 June at the Manchester Etihad Stadium, where the Panthers came third overall, winning one of their games 6-1 in the process! Each of the players performed extremely well (despite bad weather), and received their own individual medal for taking part.
CDL makes regular donations to a wide range of local organisations, and runs an active corporate responsibility scheme (CSR) programme.
Peter Larkham, CDL HR Director, commented: “As soon as Karl approached us about the funding, we were extremely keen to get involved – it’s fantastic to know what a difference it made to the children’s day and we wish them every success on the pitch going forwards.”
