Company bosses are being urged to put their personal New Year’s resolutions aside and
concentrate on setting their business goals for 2015.
Local Human Resources expert and client of Marketing Stockport member Fay Marcroft, Emma Fay says that whilst January is traditionally the month of short-lived diets and fitness regimes, it is the perfect time to make longer-term business plans.
Emma is urging the owners of small and medium-sized firms to ensure that their goals for 2015 are
set in stone this month.
Director of The HR Dept Wilmslow, Emma Fay (left) says:
“Many New Year’s resolutions are made and broken by the end of January. Personal resolutions aside, this is a great time for company directors to take the opportunity to lay down some goals for their business in 2015.”
Emma Fay adds:
“Sales targets, customer satisfaction levels and new product development are all key areas for company bosses to consider. Making sure that your firm’s Human Resources policies are sufficient could be vital to driving these areas forward.”
Emma believes that the owners of local SMEs should make a firm resolution to ensure they have HR policies in place to motivate employees, retain talent and protect their business.
“A good place to start is with a key employee, perhaps a rising star that you want to keep happy and motivated. Your resolution could be based around managing their career and retaining the talent.
Alternatively, you could ask yourself which employee would pose the biggest risk if they walked away? If you do not have restrictive covenant protection, then it should be high on your list of resolutions to protect your business from future employment tribunals.”
Emma believes that making a resolution to focus on HR issues will help business owners to beat
the January blues and start 2015 on the front foot.
