Stockport’s LifeLEISURE’s ‘Spin of Ages’ event has raised almost £200 for their own David Hopkins Foundation, which supports local sports clubs and individuals in Stockport.
Members and staff really got in the groove and hit the beats, as they donned fancy dress for the six hour ‘Spin of Ages’ spinathon, spinning to great tunes from the ‘ages’ – the 60’s, 70s, 80’s – right through to music from today!

Spinning is a cardio (aerobic) workout set to music and involves the use of stationary bikes; as one of the most popular exercise classes offered, Life Leisure has invested in dedicated spinning studios at a number of its centres.
Jamie McCord, Life Leisure Manager said,
“We all really had a great day, some of the spinners really entertained with their colourful outfits. I would like to pay tribute to our members and staff who got immersed in the event, some of whom came from other Life Leisure facilities to support the event. We all had a fantastic time and it raised some money for a worthy local cause, the David Hopkins Foundation.”
The foundation was set up to help make a difference to the provision of sport and physical activity, enabling more children and adults from any background to become more active and participate in their chosen activity. The David Hopkins Foundation accepts applications by individuals that live in Stockport or registered charities or clubs that are based in the Stockport Borough for amounts up to £500 for individuals and £1,000 for clubs.
