2016 proved to be a Life Leisure changing year for Stockport’s Danny Drayson and Hayley Ellison.
Danny, 33 and a father of two, discovered the benefits of the gym and changed his working day from doing odd jobs to becoming a senior fitness coach at Life Leisure.
Four years ago Hayley was feeling overweight, lacking in confidence and had never stepped into a gym. Today she has turned her life around and is both a fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Danny said he discovered the gym during one of his ‘out-of-work’ periods and soon got the fitness bug: “I started to really enjoy the gym. When I found about the Life Leisure Motivator scheme I jumped at the chance to volunteer and the prospect of being trained, getting qualifications and onto a real career path.
“I am now fully qualified and doing a job I love that has given me excellent career prospects, leading to opportunities in management.”
Hayley’s determination paid off when she lost three stone in weight and prompted her to consider a new career.
She said: “The idea of being to help people the way they had helped me really inspired me and I decided to go for it! In June of this year I was able to quit my office job and concentrate on a healthier career.
“This year I am excited to be one of the course leaders as it is giving me the chance to help others like me and hopefully inspire them to enjoy a happier, healthier lifestyle”.
Danny added: “This job has changed me completely; you can’t be shy in front of a group of ladies and holding an aqua aerobics class”.
