Broadstone Mill have handed over a cheque to fellow Marketing Stockport member Life Leisure for £6,000 as a donation to The David Hopkins Foundation.
The foundation was set up in memory of David Hopkins OBE who was a well known figure in the Stockport Community and was a long serving Chairman of the Stockport Sports Trust T/A Life Leisure Board before he died in 2009 following a long fight against cancer.
The David Hopkins Foundation supports sport and sports clubs across Stockport and accepts applications from any individual, group or organisation in Stockport for funding that will benefit their sports club and help make a difference to the provision of sport and physical activity, enabling more children and adults from any background to become more active and participate in their chosen activity.
The money donated by Broadstone Mill will solely be used for applications from the Reddish area; the £6,000 will be helping people in close proximity to the mill enabling them to contribute directly to the local community.
Julie Sym – Owner and Director of Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet said:
“ We are delighted to help and encourage people to keep fit and healthy through exercise and sport.”
The Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport will be visiting the Mill Tea Room at Broadstone Mill in Reddish to hand over the cheque this Wednesday, 1st October at 10am – All welcome.
