This Sunday, 14th July, three members of the Leemic team will once again be hitting the roads to raise money for St Ann’s Hospice. Taking to the saddle for the 63 mile route to Blackpool is Nick Pendlebury, hot on the heels of his success in the Manchester 10K; joining Nick are Leemic’s Paul Lee and avid cyclist Stuart Jervis.

This year’s event is even more poignant for both Paul and Stuart as last year both faced personal challenges of a different nature. Hours before last year’s event Paul’s son Cameron was attacked by a dog resulting in emergency surgery necessitating Paul pulling out at the last minute. More recently Stuart suffered a heart problem but was keen to again join Nick for this year’s event.
So far the Lancashire hill based supplier of photocopier and printer equipment “Team Leemic” have raised over £5000.00 for the Heald Green hospice and hope to raise a total of £16K.
Nick added:
“I am extremely proud that Paul and Stuart have agreed to join me on the 63 mile route to Blackpool; last year Paul was devastated at having to pull out of the event but is pleased to report Cameron has now fully recovered. As for Stuart; in March we were all extremely shocked when he suffered a minor heart attack, especially as he eats healthy and regularly cycles.
“We won’t be breaking any records this year and intend to take things easier than in previous years, but we would still hope to finish in around 4 ½ hours. Training has been difficult for us all due to work and family commitments but, spirits and legs willing, we will be able to complete the ride; no doubt we will all be feeling the effects next Monday morning, but if we can achieve enough sponsorship support it will be all worth it”.
