T’is the seasons to be jolly and the Kazo lads have every reason to be! As we draw close to waving goodbye to 2014, the four-piece from Stockport reflect on an unbeatable year!
This time last year they were getting ready to record their debut EP with Dan Broad, Musical Director of Happy Mondays. And as the year finishes, Kazo are celebrating their sell out launch of Cocktails & Canapes, recorded at the Edge Studios, managed by world renowned sound engineer John Delf.
Hitting the music scene over two years ago, Kazo have bounced from one success to another, turning heads along the way. Noel Gallagher noticed them in their early days, and so impressed by them, Kazo were invited to play at the HIGH FLYING BIRDS OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY at Liverpool 02 Academy!
The boys’ inimitable style was defined this year by Dan Broad, who said:
“They have what it takes to survive the music industry, in my opinion. Their songs stand by themselves. They’re dynamic and unequivocally unique. On top of that the lads have an infectious magnetism, with their strong bond of friendship playing out well on stage.”
And the boys have proved Dan to be true! Gigging nearly every week over the past year, Kazo have been heard far and wide across the UK.
What the press say! Their media following has spiralled – they are now regular voices on WFM 97.2 where they’re not only interviewed, but co-host the show!
Kazo have been heard on the likes of Wirral Radio, Fab Radio, UK Undiscovered, TBFM Radio’s biggest show Independence THURSDAY ….even as far afield as the USA on BWD Radio New York Station, where they took listeners behind the scenes to find out what makes them stand out from the crowd!
Kazo is…Vocalist & Rhythm Guitarist Jack Henigan; Lead Guitarist Jake Blythe, Drummer Sam Keene & Bassist Mike Silcock. Fast becoming known as Stockport’s band to watch…Kazo is set to hit the national music scene!
Watch this space! So, with their debut EP out there ….what are their plans for 2015? Keep an eye out for the launch of their latest music videos in the New Year– Nothing’s Gonna Save You Now, Lie and Martin…making that SEVEN music videos on the streets! Each one tells a story…. not only of the song…but in the making!
Kazo antics! Their wacky ‘don’t care’ attitudes were out there whilst filming Nothing’s Gonna Save You Now which took the boys all over Stockport, inside churches, fields, hanging upside down over fire as well as dressed to impress in invisible gear! The zaniest moment was stuck in a farmer’s field, drenched in mud….right before the cameras rolled! Nothing is too way out….just ready for a laugh … never taking life too seriously!
Next EP recording!
The New Year starts off with recording their second EP, due for launch at Band on the Wall in Manchester on Friday 6th March.
What a year!
