There are now only four weeks to go until the new PAYE reporting system, known as Real Time Information (RTI), will be introduced.
However there may still be some employers who are not prepared. HMRC are stepping up their campaign to raise awareness of RTI, provide support to employers to help them get ready to report PAYE in real time, and to urge them to act now if they have not done so already.
By now, employers should have:
- chosen the best RTI-ready payroll option for them or gone to hmrc.gov.uk/rti for more information
- started to prepare by making sure they hold accurate and up-to-date information about all their employees
Highlights from HMRC’s campaign
- We wrote to all employers in October 2012 and again in February 2013 to tell them about Real Time Information and what they need to do to get ready
- We will launch ‘RTI Week’ today, Monday 11 March, which will include a week-long RTI Twitter Q&A
- During RTI Week, we will also launch a marketing campaign which includes radio adverts, national newspapers adverts and an online campaign. Appealing to smaller business, the campaign
strapline is ‘Whatever the size of your business, PAYE is changing on 6th April’. The campaign asks employers to act today and encourages them to visit our website to find out more about their payroll options
HMRC are also offering a range of support for employers, including:
- Improved PAYE and RTI web pages
- Face to face events throughout the country. More information will be posted on our website shortly.
- Live question and answer webinars every day; we regularly add new dates for these webinars
- YouTube video
- Online interactive sessions, including Twitter Q&A on 19 March [#RTIqa]
