This week we have been searching around for some interesting statistics for digital media. Here are a few of the most noteable that we have found from Econsultancy.
1. Users of Internet Explorer are the most valuable online.
From a sample of nearly 100m visitors to 90 of the leading online retail sites over a 2 month period, IE
users have a higher customer value and coversion rate.
2 Marketers still need to work on mobile email – just 25% of companies are currently optimising emails for
mobile yet more email are now being accessed on mobile devices.
3 eBay shows that summer shopping starts in winter.
This year shows that there has been a year on year increase of 183% in daily searches for BBQs and a
doubling of searches for sunglasses between February and March. Over 100 pairs of sunglasses and
four BBQs were sold every hour on eBay.co.uk last month, despite the cold snap!
4 UK digital ad spend increased 12.5% to almost £5.42bn in 2012 according to a new report from the
Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), helped by ownership of smartphones which now stands at more than
64% in the UK. £526m spent in mobile advertising.
5 Online publishers expect strong digital revenue growth of 15% in 2013.
Increased revenues are expected to come from a variety of sources, with 88% saying they expect to
increase paid-for elements of their websites.
