HS2 is taking to the platform as Alison Munro, Chief Executive of High Speed Two Limited, is confirmed as a speaker set to address delegates at the Great Manchester Business Conference on Friday 21st March.
Ms Munro, who has been Chief Executive of High Speed Two Ltd since the company was established in 2009, holds responsibility for the development and implementation of the routes from London to the West Midland’s, Manchester and Leeds.
The day-long conference is being held at the Point at Lancashire Cricket Club from 08:00-15:00 and will follow the format of a news-analysis TV show with video spots introducing each fresh topic. This year’s event is being co-hosted by Steph McGovern, Business Presenter on BBC Breakfast along with John Ashcroft John who is Chief Executive of pro.manchester, a Director of Marketing Manchester, a member of the GM Chamber of Commerce Council and the AGMA Business Leadership Council.
The first speakers will take the stage at 08:45 and a networking lunch is scheduled for 13:30.
In her key note address, Ms Munro will highlight the benefits of the high speed rail network including creating crucial space on crowded commuter networks, reducing journey times and, most importantly for businesses, economic benefits with the creation of jobs and greater connectivity. She will also focus on the benefits of the European High Speed Rail Network and how the UK can emulate this attracting inward investment and putting the UK on the map in terms of transport infrastructure.
