Redrock Stockport has celebrated its 1st birthday after what has been described as ‘an amazing year’.
Getting rave reviews from day one, more than 750,000 people have visited Redrock over the past 12 months to enjoy a meal, watch a film or workout at The Gym – more than double the number that were predicted.
“The cinema is fab. I won’t go anywhere else now”, “big thumbs up from me” and “I love it!” are just some of the comments received from visitors who are loving the new public square.
It seems that the huge reclining seats at The Light Cinema, free parking offers and the great food available at Zizzi, PizzaExpress, Berretto Lounge and MangoBean have tempted visitors from a wide area.
The Gym Group’s 24/7 gym has also proved a huge hit, with people now able to fit their workouts around their busy lifestyles.
“The success of Redrock has been phenomenal,” commented Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council. “Having very quickly established itself as one of the regions must visit destinations, its popularity continues to grow week by week and is significantly exceeding all predictions. And the benefits being created go further than just Redrock. At the same time as enjoying a meal out or a trip to the cinema, thousands of visitors are then heading into Stockport to discover everything our town offers, bringing a new vibrancy to the whole of our town centre.”
Jamie Pitt from The Light Cinema said:
“Redrock Stockport really has shown that it’s the place to be! We’ve had an amazing first year that has exceeded all of our wildest expectations, with visitor numbers growing all the time. We’ve loved meeting everyone who has paid us a visit, and look forward to seeing you again soon as you come and watch some of this year’s fantastic Christmas releases.”
Redrock Stockport is part of an ambitious regeneration programme that is transforming Stockport town centre at the moment, and proving hugely successful. More and more businesses and restaurants who are excited by the vision for the town are choosing to open in Stockport, and hundreds of jobs are being created. At the same time, an ever growing number of residents are moving into the town centre.
