Hallidays, Stockport have selected Didsury based Francis House Children’s Hospice as their chosen charity for 2019/21.
The Hallidays team voted for Francis House from a range of local charities. Based in Didsbury, Francis House provides respite and end of life care for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. They also give vital support to parents and siblings. At any one time, they are helping approximately 2,000 people from the Greater Manchester area.
It costs around £4.7 million per year (approximately £11,000 per day) to operate Francis House and almost 90% of their income comes from donations. Hallidays team are planning a range of fundraising events over the next two years to help families to continue to receive the support they need.
Hallidays have a long history of raising money for local charities. Most recently, Hallidays celebrated raising £5,218 for The Weekend Day Centre for Dementia Care in Stockport by completing ‘Tough Mudder’, the Snowdon Horseshow via Crib Goch Challenge, a female boxing competition, quiz nights and bake-sales. Previously Hallidays have raised similar amounts to support the valuable work of Beechwood Cancer Care, Beacon Counselling and The Seashell Trust.
Francis House was nominated by Hallidays team member, Chris Barlow:
“Having spent some time in hospital as a teenager, I learned from other patients about Francis House and the magnificent way they support children and their families, providing fun and friendship alongside care and comfort. I’m delighted our team voted to support their valuable work.”
