Marketing Stockport member Hallidays is going the extra mile for the company’s annual charity, Beechwood Cancer Care Centre.
Hallidays team member Nick Holton will be running the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon this Sunday, 10th April 2016. He will start off from the Trafford Arch and finish at Emirates Old Trafford, home of Lancashire County Cricket.
Jane Bennett, marketing manager at Hallidays, said Nick has been preparing well, eating a healthy diet and participating in smaller races.
“He recently ran a 20-mile race to test himself before the event and is feeling confident that he will be able to complete the marathon and record a respectable finishing time.”
Nick said, “I’ve been thinking of running a marathon as a personal challenge for a while. I’ve found that if you’re doing it for a cause as worthy as Beechwood, it makes the training runs during a Manchester winter just that bit easier!
“Whilst I haven’t been strictly following the training plan I was meant to, I did quite well in the Tarpley 20 mile race a few weeks ago so feel confident I will be able to go the distance.”
Previous charity events completed by Hallidays team members include abseiling 200ft down the Trafford Centre Tower at Barton Square and speeding across the ‘Zip World Velocity’ zip wire in Wales. Nicola Coles, Kris Smithies and Hassan Ahsan ran the 10km Big Stockport Run in September 2015, helping to raise £2,600 for Beechwood to date.
