Liz Ridley from Hallidays bravely took part in a charity boxing match raising more than £400 for Beechwood Cancer Care, which is Hallidays chosen charity for 2015/16.
Fighting under the name of the ‘Pouting Punisher’, Liz completed over 40 hours of training, including an 8 week training programme for beginners before taking part in a charity boxing match organised by Pink Collar Boxing. She was trained by Darren Craven from the Primal Academy who stated:
“I have had the pleasure of training Liz for the last 8 weeks; she has come on with not only her skill level but also her confidence. It was a delight to train and educate her. I was very proud of Liz and what she did in the ring, win, lose or draw you should always see her as a winner”.
Liz also had coaching from Stockport-based boxer Stacey Copeland, 2015 Nations Cup Gold Medallist and additional training sessions from Anthony Brown at the Stockport-based Elite Performance Fitness Limited.
The event held at Bowlers, Trafford Park on Saturday 25th July included 13 boxing matches and was attended by around 150 people. Liz fought Becky Hill for an action-packed 3 rounds which resulted in a draw.
Liz said:
“This is something I haven’t done before so it was a great challenge. A big thanks to those who sponsored me and bought tickets to raise money for such a great charity”.
Nigel Bennett, Managing Director of Hallidays said “We are very proud of our charity work at Halliday’s and Liz’s commitment and bravery has raised some much needed funds for Beechwood”.
