Stockport-based Hallidays have reached the finals in the 2018 E3 Business Awards hosted by 1 Events Media.
Launched in 2013, the E3 Business Awards are now in their sixth year. Designed to be the North West’s most inclusive business awards, they celebrate diversity and outstanding achievement on the part of companies, charities, social enterprises and individual entrepreneurs.
Hallidays’ team is fundamentally people centric, including each team member who is dedicated to growing and supporting their clients. With a strong coaching culture, commitment to personal development and a proactive approach, their values of ‘growth and support’ are at the core of everything they do.
Hallidays Managing Director, Nigel Bennett says:
“We’re a people business not an accounts production and tax return business. We banned the word ‘staff’ years ago to reinforce the fact we’re not a hierarchical firm. We are one big team working towards the same goal.
“With training and coaching embedded throughout our company we’re proud of the way we motivate and support our team members to grow so they can help our clients achieve their visions. Our entire Board has been ‘internally promoted’ along with over 90% of our managers. Our apprenticeship scheme ensures we grow our own talent and is a fantastic career pathway. Together we’re all on an amazing journey which has seen our team grow over 50% within the last 3 years as we expand our services and help and support more businesses to grow. These fundamental changes are a result of the attitude and quality of our amazing team.”
Hallidays believe ‘what gets measured gets done!’ Their whole team meet monthly over a hot breakfast to celebrate their ‘team member of the month’ and exam passes with rewards. At this meeting they review the business’s performance so they can focus on how they can drive it forward together.
Their team play an active role in making Hallidays a great place to work, with their ideas recently leading to core working hours being abolished, giving the team greater flexibility to manage their work-life balance, whilst meeting clients’ needs.
Recently, on Employee Appreciation Day, all 90 team members were celebrated with bespoke chocolate gifts and a ‘duvet’ day due to adverse weather conditions!
Hallidays Manager, Rob Mowat says:
“As soon as I started here I felt that Hallidays is the right place for me. I have constantly been offered opportunities to develop myself through training days, internal coaching, and access to new and exciting types of work. Since joining Hallidays I have become a parent for the first time. Throughout my wife’s pregnancy, and since the birth of our daughter, it has been great to have on offer flexible arrangements including flexible working hours and the ability for me to work from home. I am always delighted to recommend Hallidays as a fantastic place to work”
It’s not surprising that their ‘engagement survey’ found 100% of their team members ‘look forward to coming to work’! They understand that a happy team creates happy clients.
Managing Director of the E3 Awards, Mubarak Chati, said:
“We had almost three hundred nominations this year. The Awards are now in their sixth year and, every year since we’ve started, the number and calibre of entrants has grown. We have seen a particularly impressive response in several categories, including the Employer of the Year category. Everyone who has made it to the shortlist stage has done so against the very fiercest competition. As one of our 2018 finalists, Hallidays should feel very proud indeed.”
The awards event will be held at the Macron Stadium in Bolton on Thursday 12th July 2018.
