Key speakers include:
Viridor: The waste challenge in the northwest
Working with Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority over a 25 year contract providing a quality service to GM residents and businesses alike, Viridor is investing £1.5 billion in energy from waste technology including its largest facility at Runcorn. Energy from waste is only part of the story when considering a clear recycling strategy, so how can we meet the challenge of making the most from our waste?
Manchester Metropolitan University: The successes and challenges of waste management at MMU and the birth of The Greater Manchester Hydrogen Partnership (GMHP)
With a robust waste recycling strategy in place, MMU have improved their recycling rates from 8% to 40% since 2008. Despite this, the composition analysis of our bins last year found that up to 70% in our general waste sample could have been recycled. GMHP is focusing on a route to non-fossil hydrogen and working with significant partners to identify the potential for hydrogen production from GM waste.
Bizvision Ltd: Will you be the chosen or chopped supplier?
Large companies in all sectors are chopping back on their list of suppliers to work with a rosta of selected or preferred companies. Malcolm Gallagher (CEO of The Preferred Supplier programme) will give his insights on how a business can adapt and streamline (including areas such as waste management) to increase its chances of becoming a preferred supplier.
Groundwork MSSTT: Environmental Legislation and Waste management
Richard Packer, from our very own Environmental Business Services team will be giving his perspective on the business benefits of monitoring waste and managing legal compliance.
Groundwork MSSTT would like to thank The Palace Hotel for their support and kindly providing the venue.
