The Greater Manchester Youth Summit takes place today (Friday 23rd) at Manchester City’s Etiad stadium.
The event is free to attend and takes place from 9am to 1pm.
It is a call for collective action across Greater Manchester to increase young people’s employment, with practical workshops and projects for employers to sign up to.
The ‘Youth Summit’ will be an opportunity to find out more about what is currently happening and how local businesses can help young people to get a job by:
- Employing a young person the system made easy including grants; options for cost-free recruitment & selection; what to expect; and the business benefits.
- Taking on an Apprentice – a quick and easy guide
- The business benefits of Linking up with a school – the business benefits
- Using supply chains
- How to encourage suppliers to support the GM Commitment.
- Mentoring a young person – Pass on the benefits of your experience to someone starting out in their career; how to sign up for free training in your area.
The Rt Honorable David Miliband, MP, will give the keynote address and employers and young people will discuss the challenges they face and how we can commit to further action to make things better in Greater Manchester.
