Stockport residents have less than a month to have a say on the new powers that Greater Manchester will get from central government.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s (GMCA) consultation, which is running until Monday 15th August, outlines some of the new powers that Greater Manchester will have, suggests how they could be used, shows more detail if required and most importantly, asks for your comments.
Through the Greater Manchester devolution agreements, decision-making on crucial public services like local transport, health, housing and roads will move closer to local people.
Local leaders aim to use these new powers to make sure GM residents, including those living in Stockport, are able to find a home where they want to live, have the right skills for a good job and access to a world-class transport network.
Councillor Alex Ganotis, Leader of Stockport Council, said: “I invite Stockport residents to play a vital role in Greater Manchester’s devolution by having their say on the new responsibilities that we will receive from government and how to best use them. Through this set of powers, the Council will be working with the other nine local authorities and public bodies to drive economic growth and improve public services across the region, and we need your input on how to meet these aspirations.”
