20 PR Apprenticeship opportunities have been created in Greater Manchester this year thanks to a grant from policy, research, and strategy think-tank New Economy in Manchester as part of the Greater Manchester Commitment, a campaign to help young people into apprenticeships and other types of jobs with training.
The PRCA, the largest PR association in Europe, announced that the grant of £50,000 has been won by the PRCA working in partnership with Stockport-based apprenticeship specialists, Damar Training. The funding will allow the partners to create new resources for the qualification and provide high quality information, advice and guidance on PR Apprenticeships for employers, schools and young people.
The PRCA and Damar aim to create 20 new apprenticeship vacancies in Greater Manchester by December 2015, offering new starters apprenticeships at reputable companies where they can develop their PR skills with no student debt.
Business Development Manager needed!
In order to achieve these aims, the PRCA is looking to recruit a part-time Business Development Manager in Manchester who will lead the creation of the apprenticeship opportunities.

“We’re seeing growing demand for apprenticeships from the sector – it’s great to see that both agencies and in-house teams alike are keen to take on apprentices.”
Francis Ingham MPRCA, Director General, PRCA, added:
“The partnership with Damar Training, alongside the fantastic investment from New Economy in Manchester, will help to further diversify the PR industry in Greater Manchester, allowing us to ensure that candidates from a broader range of backgrounds can be given opportunities. The aim to create 20 new PR Apprenticeship vacancies in Greater Manchester by December 2015 will be a huge step in the right direction for apprentices and employers alike.”
