As Many areas of Stockport have been unusually quiet with reduced visitor numbers and many events cancelled due to the impact of the coronavirus and subsequent lockdowns, grant funding is now available for local organisations and associations to host events.
As the situation around lockdown eases, local organisations and community groups are being encouraged to apply for grant funding that will help them to host events and attract visitors in an attempt to support businesses and boost the local economy.
Subject to restrictions being lifted, you could be looking to bring back a local carnival or festival. Perhaps you are planning a BIG community lunch or local fair and family entertainment. You may even be planning to make this year’s Christmas events in your community bigger and better than ever. Whatever your ideas, you could be awarded some funding.
The Stockport Economic Recovery Locality Boost Grant is for district centre trading associations, or their equivalent, to apply for funding for their local areas to run events to drive local footfall and customers into local areas and boost trade for local businesses as they reopen and recover from the losses incurred by enforced closures.
Where localities do not have trading associations that can lead an application, an equivalent accountable body or local business group could lead an application as the single point of contact for their area. There is only one application accepted and one grant, if successful, provided per locality, so don’t delay.
Businesses that wish to apply should email skladgrants@stockport.gov.uk asking for the eligibility and application guidance and application form for the Stockport Economic Recovery Locality Boost Grant.
Applications for this grant scheme will close on 17/05/2021 (please note this is earlier than for the other schemes).
