GET AHEAD THIS WINTER – Snow and ice can cause delays to journey times but road users can get ahead this winter by checking out the new winter maintenance and gritting pages on Stockport Council’s website: www.stockport.gov.uk/gritting
To help residents plan their route, residents can search by street, address or postcode to view gritting routes local to them on a map. The colour coded routes also help residents to understand which routes have been prioritised for gritting.
Cllr Kevin Hogg, Executive Member for the Public Realm at Stockport Council said: “As winter has arrived we have improved our winter gritting web pages to ensure that residents can access vital information during periods of cold weather.
“The new maps allow road users to find out gritting routes relevant to them, ensuring that in times of snow and ice, they can plan the safest journey.”
Whilst the Council is gritting key roads and footpaths across the borough there is plenty that road users can do to help keep the borough moving during the winter months. The online maps also allow road users to locate their nearest grit bin and residents can keep abreast of any school or civic building closures, as well as disruptions to Council services and public transport.
