Stockport Council are hosting a free tendering seminar for all local companies and potential suppliers attending this year’s Meet the Buyer event taking place in Stockport Town Hall on 20th October to equip businesses with tips and guidance on how they can become bid-ready.
Tendering for contracts and business can be a confusing and complex process and Stockport Council is committed to working with the local business community.
“The how and why of Tendering for Public Sector Contracts” seminar will be delivered by Sharon Robson, Director of Procurement at STAR, the shared procurement service for Stockport, Trafford and Rochdale Councils. The seminar will take place in the Town Hall at 12.10pm and will finish at 12.40pm.
In addition to the seminar, Meet the Buyer 2015 offers extensive business-to- business networking opportunities with over 200 companies already booked to attend the event during the day. There’s also a series of displays from business support organisations so an opportunity for businesses to find out more about the support on offer as they seek to grow and develop.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Thriving Economy, said:
“Supporting small businesses is key to our support for the local economy. The Meet the Buyer events are an excellent opportunity for smaller businesses to get past the gatekeeper and talk to those in a position to buy their products or services. The Council is committed to enabling more companies to do business with the local authority, its partners and large local businesses.”
Whilst the booking deadline for appointments to meet purchasing teams has passed, local businesses are very welcome to drop in between 10am and 2pm to take advantage of the networking opportunities and visit the display stands.
All opportunities on offer are free to businesses but pre-booking is essential. lf you would like to attend email econdev@stockport.gov.uk
