Greater Manchester Police will be in Stockport Merseyway Shopping Centre on 18th June where cyclists can get a free tamper-proof security sticker to put on the frame.
The bike security marking event will take place on the 18th June 11am-1pm. This will be held inside merseyway shopping centre just outside of specsavers and will be free.
The security sticker is placed on the frame of the bike and isn’t able to be removed. This allows police to identify the owner of the bike so that we are able to return it to them.
PC Lucy Ward from Greater Manchester Police said:
“I am organising a security tagging event whereby members of the public can come to get their bikes security tagged for free in the town centre. This will enable us to identify bikes in which have been stolen and return them to their owners.”
Over 100,000 bikes were stolen from their owners across the UK last year and less than 5% were returned as Police were unable to trace them back to their owners.
Register the ownership details of your bike for free on the Immobilise Property Register and make them viewable to the Police across the UK.
