Auto Enrolment: This Thursday 25th June – Cullen Wealth
Due to changes in legislation, the most pressing issue facing many small businesses at the moment is Auto Enrolment which will be the subject of the first seminar this Thursday 25 June at Cullen Wealth in Stockport.
Over a million businesses need to have their scheme in place between 2016 and 2018 and, according to the Federation of Small Business, it is a priority that cannot be ignored.
Every employer must automatically enroll workers, who fit certain criteria, into a workplace pension scheme; the seminar is free to attend and will include a complimentary breakfast. Registration and breakfast at 8am will be followed by presentations from 8.30-9.30am.
Karen Robinson, Head of Auto Enrolment at Cullen Wealth, will cover what Auto Enrolment means for small businesses, how to comply with the law, how to solve the admin burden and the costs involved:
“Setting up a scheme takes time and firms that do not comply with the rules will face fines. Many employers are under the mis-conception that, if they are already contribute to a pension scheme for some staff, they can bolt on auto enrolment. But this is not always the case.
“There is also a tendency to focus on the staging date when really that is only the start. It’s something employers will have to deal with after staging and continue to keep on top of, in order to remain compliant.”
The seminar will also include an employment update from Ed Gregory, Senior Associate, at Gorvins Solicitors, covering flexible working, shared parental leave and holiday pay issues facing small businesses.
