Stockport’s ‘Foodie Friday’ has brought a new vibe to Friday evenings at Stockport’s Market Place.
Taking place on the last Friday of every month, there’s now a special focus on gourmet street food at Stockport Market. Modern food with a twist is available at lunchtime and again from 5pm until late in the evening.
Foodie Fridays are run by Stockport Council in partnership with Guerrilla Eats, a street food collective currently being nominated for awards for its pop-up events throughout Manchester.
Malachy O’Connor, founder member of Guerrilla Eats, said:
“Stockport Market’s #foodiefriday events are quite different from our usual pop ups. The music, bar and seating encourage people to chill out and enjoy their evening and we aren’t surprised to see so many people coming in from other areas as well as from all over Stockport. We expect this event to get even more popular in the run up to Christmas.”
Councillor Iain Roberts, Councillor for Economic Development & Regeneration, added:
“In 2010, Stockport Council celebrated the 750th anniversary of Stockport Market and we recently looked at strategies to attract new visitors to the Markets to support the local regeneration projects. One of the key themes was developing a quality food offer to attract people who live and work in Stockport to the market. The late night Foodie Friday events have already proved a popular draw and we look forward to seeing a wide range of gourmet street food at Stockport Market in the near future.”
