Stockport-based charity, Independent Options, has raised almost £500 after hosting a highly successful Christmas Fair recently, and is issuing a big ‘thank you’ to those who offered their support and donations.
Independent Options, one of Stockport’s leading charities for children and adults with disabilities, hosted the event, which raised a grand total of £490. The money raised will fund services across Stockport, such as home management support, short breaks for adults, and community support.

Held at the charity’s head office at The Pines on Chester Road, Hazel Grove, the spectacular event saw stalls packed with Christmas crafts and gifts, a wool spinning demonstration, and an impressive performance from the sign language choir from Hazel Grove Baptist Church (below). Meanwhile, Santa sat in his grotto awaiting his visitors as the mince pies and homemade treats were snapped up and the mulled wine flowed.
The Centre is also lucky to have an extensive outdoor play area with accessible play equipment that was available for children to use while they visited.
Fundraising Manager, Lucy Sawdon, commented:
“The Independent Options Christmas Fair was a great success, with lots of visitors getting into the festive spirit and taking part in the activities. Importantly, though, we were able to raise a fantastic amount of money, as we rely heavily on support from the community in order to provide our services to children and adults living with a learning disability across Stockport. From all of us at Independent Options, I would like to say a huge thank you to those who came along and supported us, as well as everyone who donated items, volunteered and promoted the event.”
Independent Options is a registered charity with over 25 years’ experience of removing the barriers that society places in the way of people with disabilities and those who love and care for them.
