Stockport Council run Air Raid Shelters is commemorating the 100th anniversary of WWI and other conflicts with a Festival of Flowers.
Local flower clubs and groups, supported by Stockport Council’s Museums Service, have put together the floral tribute to all personnel who have and are currently serving their country in the Armed Forces.

Music and poetry will form a backdrop to the flower displays, providing a tranquil space to reflect and remember.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said:
“This is guaranteed to be a very thought provoking display and a fitting way to commemorate the 100th anniversary of WWI and other conflicts. I would encourage people to come along and visit this Air Raid Shelters.”
The flower display will run over three days, from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th November, from 10.00am to 5.00pm (last entry 4.00pm). Adults £3 and children are free (under 16). 50% of admissions fees will be donated to the Poppy Appeal.
If you are planning a group visit (15 or more), call the Air Raid Shelters in advance on 0161 474 1940.
