Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell is urging Stockport’s community football clubs to bid for a share of the FA’s £102million grant fund to improve pitches, pavilions, and lighting.
Grants will range from £10,000 up to £500,000. There will also be an opportunity to apply for smaller grants in Summer 2014.
The Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund gives grants for projects that:
- Improve facilities for football and other sport in local communities.
- Sustain or increase participation amongst children and adults, regardless of background age, or ability.
- Help children and adults to develop their physical, mental, social and moral capacities through regular participation in sport.
The types of facilities eligible for grants include:
- grass pitches drainage/improvements
- pavilions, clubhouses and changing rooms
- artificial turf pitches and multi-use games areas
- fixed floodlights for artificial pitches.
Commenting, Andrew said –
“The money is waiting for collection, and I want our local clubs to get their share. The Football Foundation wants to hear from teams with plans, and I’m ready to point clubs in the right direction. There is a lot of money at the top level of the football industry, but not enough comes back to help the grassroots, so when there is a chance like this, let’s take full advantage of it.”
