Ask Copilot introduces intent and context to taskbar search.
Instead of returning a list of results, it aims to help users complete actions directly, such as opening files, adjusting settings, or explaining how to do something.

Microsoft is also testing additional interaction options alongside Ask Copilot, including voice input and visual understanding of what is on screen.

Privacy and Control Still Come First
For businesses, control is key.
Ask Copilot is not enabled by default and must be switched on manually. It does not gain new permissions or deeper access to files than existing Windows tools.
If it is not enabled, Windows behaves exactly as it does today.
