Investment continues at JS Burgess Engineering Ltd, the UK’s largest independent stillage manufacturer, with the company acquiring almost 75,000 square feet of additional land around their factory.
Based just south of Manchester in the High Peak, the new land equates to almost two acres of additional yard and storage space.
The investment comes only weeks after spending more than a £1 million on new factory buildings, plant and machinery.
Jonny Patoff, Managing Director at JS Burgess, outlined the importance of the purchase: “We are well known in the industry for quality and service which has over the years enabled us to build strong associations with many new and returning customers from a wide variety of industries. With the resulting growth in our order book we are even more committed to further reducing lead-times whilst increasing production, to do this we have had to further expand our operations within our High Peak site.
“Having purchased adjacent factory buildings to facilitate the increases in production we needed larger yard space to store increased steel stocks and store products and materials. We managed to acquire the surrounding land from United Utilities and have subsequently investment in concreting the new yard which will enable us to do just that.
“In short, the impact of this investment will allow us to continue to grow whilst at the same time continue to offer the quality of service we pride ourselves on.”
Whilst the recent acquisition of additional factory space increases the company’s production capacity, the purchase of new land allows for the storage of the additional stillages being produced.
This is a key development for Burgess, as the firm has become increasingly well-known within the stillage manufacturing industry for being able to take on and fund large and on-going production runs for large orders with volumes in the thousands.
JS Burgess Engineering has grown quickly over recent years, with major clients in the automotive and other sectors contributing to its rapid growth. The company was recently commended by Dragons Den, Theo Paphitis in recognition of their commitment to growth and quality.
