E-commerce website specialist, Shopblocks, has announced the move into Orbit Development’s No 1 St Peter’s Square in Stockport town centre.
The business, which was founded in Stockport in 2018, has signed a six year lease for a 6,500 sq ft office in the building. The firm has seen strong growth in recent years as more retailers have looked to launch online stores in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The e-commerce website specialist is the second Stockport founded tech firm to move into Orbit Development’s recently refurbished No 1 St Peter’s Square. Cybersecurity software specialist Distology moved to the building in September 2021.
Shopblocks has made the move from former premises on Greek Street to ensure it has the space for future growth, with expansion into the US and Australian markets now on the cards. Co-founder and chief executive, Kevin Jones, said:
“There was never a possibility of us leaving Stockport because it’s such a great location to hire people.
“The brief from us was that the new office needed to be within five minutes of Stockport railway station, which gave us a fairly tight radius.
“No 1 St Peter’s Square is perfect and takes us to the next level as we look to expand into the US and Australia.”
In addition to the move, the e-commerce website specialist has secured a further £250,000 investment from backers, DSW Ventures. Investor Tim Raffle commented:
“Shopblocks is unique in offering an out of-the-box solution to a vast global audience. We have huge belief in Kevin and the team at Shopblocks.”
